Antioxidants can help preserve flavor, color, nutritional quality, and shelf life—but adding an antioxidant does not necessarily confirm that a product is adequately protected.

  • Is the correct antioxidant present?

  • Is it at the intended concentration?

  • Does the antioxidant system remain effective throughout shelf life?

  • Does its use meet applicable regulatory requirements?

Join Certified Group's experts for a practical discussion of how targeted antioxidant testing, oxidation measurements, and shelf-life studies can help food manufacturers answer these questions.

Discover a New 9-Analyte HPLC Method

Certified Group has developed an HPLC-UV method that can simultaneously quantify nine antioxidants:

  • Propyl gallate (PG)

  • Octyl gallate (OG)

  • Lauryl gallate (LG)

  • BHA

  • BHT

  • TBHQ
  • TBHP

  • NDGA

  • IONOX-100

Development work across shrimp, paprika, and soy sauce demonstrated average recoveries of 94–105%, precision below 10% RSD, and a practical reporting capability of 10 ppm.

6 Ways Antioxidant Testing Improves Your Program

Our experts will explain how the method works and how antioxidant analysis can be combined with rancidity testing, shelf-life studies, microbiological evaluation, and regulatory expertise to support:

  • Product and formulation development
  • Ingredient qualification
  • Rancidity investigations
  • Shelf-life validation
  • Quality monitoring
  • Regulatory and labeling decisions

After attending, you'll understand:

  • How antioxidants protect foods and ingredients from oxidation

  • The differences among targeted antioxidant analysis, antioxidant-capacity assays, and oxidative-stability testing

  • How the new HPLC-UV method measures nine antioxidants in a single analysis

  • How peroxide value, p-anisidine, TOTOX, and TBARS can help evaluate rancidity and product performance

  • How antioxidant testing can be incorporated into shelf-life studies

  • How evolving U.S. and EU regulatory activity may affect antioxidant use and analytical verification
